Sons of Granville was founded by a couple of virtuoso buskers: violist Thomas Beckman and guitarist Matthew Lennox. In 2011 they released their self-titled debut and made the first of three consecutive “Best of Vancouver” appearances in the Georgia Straight.
Later that year, the band added percussionist Jarrett Plett as they cemented a reputation for unbridled theatrics on acoustic instruments. Throughout 2012 and 2013, the trio was a staple of Vancouver’s entertainment district while also performing large events like the Vancouver Spring Show and Squamish Music Festival. They released the feverishly-epic Imperative Drive LP in 2014 as a farewell to their busking roots.
Guitarist Justin Brown joined Sons of Granville in 2015 helping to cement Sons of Granville as one of Vancouver’s premiere instrumental bands for weddings.
