Wedding cancellations: tips for brides on how to deal with stress during the Coronavirus outbreak?

Due to Coronavirus, hundreds of large-scale events, weddings and conferences have been cancelled or postponed across B.C. Wedding planners encourage brides and grooms to change the date to 2021. Moreover, the wedding industry also consists of many self-employed, small business owners and deposits are usually non-refundable. For each bride, such news entails constant stress and anxiety. Anxiousness is normal even in the absence of a pandemic.

How brides should cope with all the amount of stress they need to deal with during COVID-19?

There are some essential tips on how to stay stress-free or control it.

1.   Try mindfulness and meditation

Stress is a product of mental activity. Mindfulness practices can reduce negative constant concern and everyday tension.  Good mental health helps people become more resilient to situations in life. Meditation involves clearing your mind and keep a calm state of mind. Try to meditate with meditation music from YouTube or other sources.

2.   Don’t panic and accept the current state of affairs

Even if you’ve been excited for months about the wedding - remember to take five big deep breaths, calm down and see the funny side – the enjoyment of being a bride longer!

4.   Exercise regularly at home while being isolated

Physical activity can boost mental health and reduce stress, according to a wealth of research. It releases chemicals that bolster well-being on a neurological level.

3.   Host a virtual gathering for your guests

It sounds weird but it will help you to get the support of friends and beloved ones. It is important to understand that all these people are there for you and soon you will see them all at your wedding physically. Chin up, ladies!

5.   Re-discover activities that make you happy

Despite restrictions on certain activities and gatherings, this is still an especially important time to seek out things that please you. Play with your pets, cook, garden, read. Watching Netflix can be a healthy habit in these challenging times.

Try to be positive – eventually, you will get married sooner or later – you have groom just beside you!
